FBAC Arrest Summary
from Officer Cook:
At
approximately 7pm on September 30, 2015, during an FBAC shift, Officer Chip
Cook responded to a call from a member living on St. Charles Ave, regarding a
suspicious yellow moving truck (Penske style) that had been parking on
Bonaventure the last few weeks. A young white male driver had been seen
with the vehicle on several occasions and had been acting erratically.
The truck left while Officer Clark was in route to the call, but he met with
the caller, and then requested on duty APD Officer Davis to come by allowing
the witness to speak with the beat officer regarding the truck. The FBAC
member was asked to call back if the truck returned.
At
approximately 9:30 pm, the member called and advised the truck had returned and
the male was with the truck. Officer Cook alerted radio and Officer
Davis, along with Officer Kreiger who met him at the scene. They
approached the occupant of the vehicle, who was identified as Barrett Wade Ricks,
a white male, who advised he was operating a transportation business with his
truck and lived on Greenwood. Officer Davis ran Ricks for wanted and
discovered an outstanding warrant for Ricks, out of Cobb County, for
larceny. An inventory of the passenger compartment of the truck revealed
a backpack, containing an eyeglass case, in which there was drug paraphernalia
and a user amount of crystal methamphetamine. He was arrested on the possession
of methamphetamine charge and has a final plea hearing date on 11/4. And he was
transferred to Cobb County to face the outstanding warrant there.
Great
cooperation between an FBAC member, FBAC patrol and APD to get this individual
out of our neighborhood.
Pedestrian Robbery St. Charles Av from Officers Narrative:
On September 27, 2015 Officer Dagrin was dispatched to an address
on ST. CHARLES AVE NE for a Pedestrian Robbery at 2:12 am. On arrival the two
victims state they had been robbed at gun point at the door of the residence
after walking home from the bar. The victims stated two unknown black males ran
up behind them, one wearing a maroon jersey and brown shorts and said, “You
Know What It Is" with one gun pointed at them. Taken was the victim’s
purse containing car keys, credit debit cards and driver license. Taken from
other victim was wallet, $150 cash, I-Phone 6, Infiniti remote car key, 5 cards
credit, debit, and gift cards, and driver license. Victim advised seeing the
two suspects get into a white sedan heading towards Ponce De Leon Ave NE as he
ran after them. No witness or cameras to the incident.
Theft from Auto 730 Ponce De Leon Pl from
Officers Narrative: (Arrest Made)
On 09/27/2015 Officer Hansen responded to 730 Ponce de Leon Place
NE on a theft from vehicle. The victim stated that she parked the listed
vehicle around 4:45 PM to attend a class at the Urban Body Studios, and
returned around 6:00 PM to find that the driver's side front window had been
broken out, and items taken. The vehicle was sitting in the parking lot on the
north side of the building, which slopes down towards the business entrance and
the Beltline. The victim advised that her backpack with her Lenovo laptop,
wallet, and keys, as well as personal items, was sitting on the floorboard in
front of the front passenger's seat. There is no tracking on the laptop, which the
victim stated is an older model only used for school. While Officer Hanson was
still on scene, the victim received a call stating that her wallet and personal
items were located near the intersection of Allen Rd NE and Monroe Dr NE,
across from the Ansley Mall shopping center. He spoke with this caller, who
stated that the items were found around 6:45 PM. APD was not able to lift any
fingerprints from the vehicle, and no witnesses came forward with any
information. The owner of Urban Body Studios advised that they do have cameras
in the parking lot that do work. The employee working at the time was not able
to access the cameras, but the owner indicated he would make them available
when he returned on 09/29/2015.
On 9/29/2015 Investigator Canup made contact with (owner of Urban
Body Studios) regarding video. I recovered video from the incident which
clearly shows multiple suspects pulling up in two separate vehicles, a white
Chevrolet Impala and a dark colored Ford Taurus. The two vehicles back into
parking spaces near each other and several males exited the vehicles. One male
walked to the victim's vehicle and looked in the passenger windows. All of the
males returned to their cars while other pedestrians and vehicles went through
the parking lot. After the potential witnesses left the parking lot the males
exited their vehicles again and started looking at more cars. A second suspect
came back to the victim's yellow mini cooper and looked in the window. He then
looked around and smashed the driver window with his elbow, snatched a bag, and
entered the dark Ford Taurus. Both the Impala and the Taurus then left the
scene together.
When Inspector Canup viewed the video the vehicles were
immediately recognized from a BOLO provided by Decatur PD earlier that day. It
advised of another entering auto and theft incident also on September 27th
on West College Ave. in Decatur, GA, with the same vehicles. It appeared that
the Impala has slight front end driver's side damage. There were pictures of
both vehicles attached to the BOLO.
On 9/29/2015, when BOLO first went out, officers Jones and
Laplante had taken multiple males into custody that were breaking into cars and
were driving the same white Chevrolet Impala with the same listed damage. Inspector
Canup advised them of the BOLO and they ended up coordinating with Decatur PD
and DeKalb PD. Both agencies had cases involving the same suspects. On
10/01/2015 officers Jones and Laplante reviewed the video from Urban Body
Studio. Both immediately identified the two suspects that approached the
victim's yellow mini cooper as suspects they had arrested on 9/29/2015. Not
only did they identify the suspects, but they were wearing some of the same
clothing including hats that they were wearing when they were arrested. The two
suspects identified were: Parren HILLMAN, and Jiquail GREEN.
The incident at Urban Body occurred approximately one mile from
where Officer Jones and Laplante witnessed them breaking into cars on 9/29/15
indicating that they were still working the same area. Both suspects have now
been arrested for multiple felonies in Fulton and DeKalb Counties including
aggravated assault on a peach officer. However, it appears they are both out on
bond.
This is another great example of cooperation – in this case
between multiple jurisdictions – to arrest suspects who are responsible for a
rash of auto break-in throughout the area.

On October 7, 2015 Officer Thompson was dispatched to a pedestrian
