Burglary 700-Block Ponce De Leon Place
On May 31 at approximately 8:53 am, police were dispatched to an apartment in the 700 block of Ponce de Leon Pl NE. A male victim advised that his dark gray 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee had been broken into overnight. Victims rear driver side window was broken out and victim stated that the perpetrator took a metal door pry tool (used in automotive interiors) valued at approximately $15. The responding officer met with a homeowner’s association board member who owns the building behind where the car was parked. The board member stated that a black male can be seen in camera footage at the location for some time trying to get into the back door with a screwdriver. In the video, the suspect leaves sight of the camera and then comes back into view with a different tool, which the first victim identified as the item taken from his vehicle. The suspect managed to pry open the building door, and later emerged with a black bicycle, helmet which he took from the location. No fingerprints were recovered at the scene, but the video footage was emailed to Zone 6 CID.
Burglary 800-Block Briarcliff Terrace NE
On June 21, police were dispatched to a residential burglary call at an apartment on the 800-block of Briarcliff Terrace NE. A female victim advised that she left town around 3:30pm on June 18 and returned on June 21 around 3:00pm. When she entered her apartment, she noticed things out of place – including that her blinds were on top of the couch instead of tucked into the window ledge, and one of her pillows on the floor. The victim advised that no one else had keys or permission to access her home. When she checked her window, the victim discovered that it had been pushed in, off the track. On further investigation, the victim discovered that two HP Pavilion laptops were stolen – one grey in color and one silver. She also discovered a spare car key missing, along with six pairs of shoes, a MGM purse (cream color), Louis Vuitton duffel back (white), a black 50lb safe that was in her closet, a black machete that she hid under her sofa cushion, and a Sony Soundbar. Police were unable to retrieve fingerprints from the window.

If you see someone or something suspicious, please report it to the police. When driving or out walking keep an eye out in the neighborhood, what you see and report just might prevent a crime.
Reminder: All members call 911 first if you see a crime in progress or a suspicious person or activity, and then call the FBAC Phone.
